Review by hotel critic
Nestled in the vibrant hutong area, Xinxiang Yayuan Beijing offers a unique blend of value and luxury for travelers interested in exploring the charms of the city. Our three-night stay revealed stylishly furnished rooms, though compact, with in-floor heating—a lovely touch for the chilly weather. The attentive staff made our experience more seamless, assisting us with check-in and local attractions, all while maintaining excellent English. Breakfast featured a delightful array of Chinese specialties, including instant noodles and rice—not gourmet, but satisfying for a grab-and-go fuel up before city explorations. An afternoon tea ceremony showcased seasonal fruits and local snacks, which added a touch of warmth to our evenings. Although the hotel is tucked away, it’s conveniently located near the Dongsi subway station for easy access to major sites. While the price might seem slightly elevated, the location, service, and amenities like free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs justify the cost. If you desire an authentic hutong experience without breaking the bank, Xinxiang Yayuan is a solid choice, providing you with what may be considered luxury in its context.
